Ineffable Ontological Detanglement .: Introspective Assistance & Mental Analysis Manual

Attention Shifting: Foreword by Kit Carruthers
No we are not speaking of simply... Being upset with something and so you find something else to do and think about, we're speaking of the depths of what is happening when you do this perfectly harmless thing. Within your semi-conscious processes you're doing this way more often than you'd think.

You have an item within your attentional structure. This item doesn't need to be the tragic moment that has befallen your life, this item may well be three isolated words spoken by a person within this event, this item may well be a single stream of thought that occurred to you during this event, this item may well be a single stream of thought that occurred to you this morning however semi-consciously this thought triggered either the reminder of this event or simply the reminder that you're not particularly smart you don't have a good grasp on things. This item may simply be semi-conscious background noise presenting itself from your subconscious forming your grasp on reality or reminding you of the contents of your ego.

This item has now been entirely disengaged with within your attentional structure, it has been cut out of all semi-conscious attention streams and you have clicked your subconscious into a containment system over this item, you've semi-consciously found a new item and this item has taken it's place within your attention stream. Whatever happens to be poking into your semi-conscious from your subconscious, often it's a frantic string of reminded ofs trying to to break as far away from the initial item as possible. Whatever gets you out of it. Within the system, all of your mental processing power is entirely relocated away from this item, all of this power is now on the new item and what makes it such an excellent thing to pay attention to. Some of you can clean break, some of you are still applying your your semi-conscious awareness of the previous item. You have a tiny little moment of "Uh" as your error correction goes a little haywire.

Those of us who bypass our perceptual filters or who have corrected our perceptual filters and so have a window to our semi-conscious are capable of pulling this off, however chances are we're not going to be entirely blind to what we've done and eventually we'll come to the realization don't do that. We won't do it dramatically unless we're dealing with something incredibly fucked up, we don't just casually fling this kind of thinks around the brain like you people do.

This is pretty much purely negative, however it can be used healthily, whatever it takes to get the job done, so long as what you're doing is focusing on the job and not losing yourself in your need to do this. You know what you're doing, you don't WANT this, however you know you need to switch focus for a moment. You're not LIFE PHILOSOPHY doing this, finding a much more productive life focus, you've just got too much going on.
